Draw A Train Car

A train car and passenger.

Though trains have many different types of cars--including sleepers, diners, parlor cars, club cars and observation cars--they all can be drawn in basically the same way because they look almost exactly the same from outside of the train. These cars are drawn with basic shapes that can be learned by children and adults alike.

Instructions

1. Draw a rectangle for the main box of the train car. Erase the corners and replace them with rounded L-shapes. This will make your train car look more three-dimensional.

2. Draw four squares in a line in the upper 1/3 of the rectangle. These will be your windows. You can draw people or curtains in the windows, if you like.

3. Draw a skinny rectangle down the length of your train car, below the windows, for a stripe. This can be colored in later.

4. Draw a circle underneath the front of the train car and draw another circle underneath the back of the train car for wheels.

5. Draw a smaller circle in the center of the wheels to represent the axle.
