A paper hanging fish is a fun, easy craft that kids and parents can make together. Because paper hanging fish designs are limitless, the craft can be done many times over with different results each time. Follow these tips to learn make your very own paper hanging fish.
Instructions
1. Layer two pieces of construction paper. Draw a fish shape on the top piece of construction paper and use scissors to cut the figure out of both pieces.
2. Draw fish features on opposite sides of each construction paper piece with markers. Try to keep the fish features identical so that it looks like two sides of the same fish.
3. Look through catalogs, junk mail, magazines and shiny paper and cut out small circles or half circles to use as scales. Pick interesting textures and designs. Affix the scales onto each piece of construction paper using the glue stick. Layer the scales together to cover the fish's body and emphasize the features drawn in Step 2.
4. Use markers, colored pencils and crayons to customize the fish's head, fins, tail and any other remaining areas that aren't covered by scales.
5. Glue or staple streamers to the inside of the fish's tail. You can select any streamer color; use blue or green streamers to make it seem as if the fish is swimming through water.
6. Put the two pieces of construction paper pieces on top of each other so that the decorated sides face outward. Secure the two pieces to each other with staples. Punch two holes in the head of the fish near the mouth and eyes. Separate the holes by an inch or two, depending on the size of the hanging fish.
7. Knot a long piece of yarn through the holes so that each end connects to one hole. Hang your new hanging fish.
