Make A Paper Plate Gingerbread Man

Gingerbread Men

Christmas is a time for baking and filling the house with the aroma of gingerbread. There may be some times when an adult does not have time to bake gingerbread men or supervise little children. In those cases, children can create paper plate gingerbread men instead. All of the needed items can be set out on a table along with these directions. Then the children can be left to create their own paper plate gingerbread man.

Instructions

1. Lay out some newspapers on your arts and crafts table. This will protect it from getting paint on it.

2. Draw a gingerbread man outline on a paper plate with a pencil. If you are not sure draw a gingerbread man just use one a gingerbread man cookie cutter. Trace around the inside of the cookie cutter.

3. Cut your gingerbread man out with your scissors.

4. Paint your gingerbread man brown and then set aside to dry.

5. Get out a tub of vanilla icing and separate it into different sandwich baggies. You will need one sandwich bag for each color you want to use to make your gingerbread man. Make sure you leave one sandwich bag plain white.

6. Drip six to eight drops of food coloring in to each bag. Each one should be a different color.

7. Close the bag and squish the color into the frosting with your hands.

8. Cut one corner of the end of your sandwich bag so you can easily squeeze out the icing.

9. Decorate your gingerbread man with the icing. You can outline the gingerbread man or you can give him a funny face. You can draw a suit on the gingerbread man or give it a dress to become a gingerbread woman. Each time you make this craft you can decorate each a little differently.

10. Sprinkle on some jimmies or sprinkles. When you are done sprinkling, set aside your paper plate gingerbread man to dry.
