Creative Graphic Design
Ideas
One of the most difficult parts about creating a graphic design is establishing the basic concepts. Because there are so many possibilities a design can take, it is vital for a graphic designer to begin gathering and adjusting the design immediately.
Brainstorm with a Pencil
Moving the hand will often stimulate the creative muscles. Sketching ideas before developing the design will often lead to greater design ideas.
Start with a Simple Image
When you look at many of the large companies' logos, you will see most are created out of one or two simple shapes. Begin with a simple image. Then you can multiply, rotate, enlarge, add color and experiment to create an amazing design.
Invert Colors to Stand Out
Inverting the colors is a great way to create an interesting design and make different parts of your design standout. You can also apply this same principle by changing one color in the design.
Break out of the Box
Creating extra-large images that extend off the page can make your design look larger than it is. People will be drawn to your design because their eyes will naturally want to fill in the missing image.
Keep an Idea File
Maintaining and reviewing a file with great designs is a way to provide additional ideas. Whenever you see a design you like, place it in your file. When you need an idea, review these designs to discover what principles can work in your own designs.
