Be The Grim Reaper For Halloween

The hooded robe and scythe make the look work.

An icon of death, the Grim Reaper makes a classic spooky costume for Halloween parties or handing out candy. This costume can be pulled together using many items you have on hand, making it a budget-friendly spooky look. Once you have the costume on, walk slowly or shuffle and don't talk to bring your Reaper look to life.

Instructions

1. Get together black pants, black socks, black shoes, black gloves and a black long-sleeved shirt or T-shirt. All-black is a must for this costume.

2. Find a hooded robe to get the right look your Reaper costume. Look for a loose-fitting robe with long sleeves, since the Grim Reaper wears flowing, loose garb.

3. Get a scythe, your major prop. The scythe differentiates the Grim Reaper from other ghouls and ghosts. Look for one at a Halloween costume store, or make your own from a broom handle and duct tape, shaping the tape into a curved blade.

4. Find a skeleton face mask, also at a Halloween store. Alternately, paint your face white using face paint. The face is less important, since you are hooded.

5. Thick rope

Put on your all-black clothes, shoes and gloves, and then pull on your robe. Tie the robe using thick rope, or a black robe tie. Put on your mask or paint your face and you're ready to reap.
