Make Homemade Clay Or Pottery

Clay Globe

There is no need to buy clay when you can make it at home from scratch. This saves you time and gas money for a trip to the store. Most likely you will have all of the ingredients at home anyway. Your children can use this recipe to make their own creations. The more you practice the better your pottery creations will be.

Instructions

1. Place 2 cups of water in a pot and bring to a boil.

2. Put 3 ounces of sugar-free lemon-flavored gelatin, 2 cups of flour, 4 tablespoons of cream of tartar sauce and 1 cup of salt in a pan and mix.

3. Pour the water from the pot into the pan, add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and mix.

4. Bring the pan temperature up to medium and keep stirring until the mixture begins to form a ball. Take the ball off of the heat and place it on a plate.

5. Wait up to five minutes so the dough isn't super hot but hasn't turned cold yet. Begin to knead.

6. Create your masterpiece and set out to harden. This could take 24 hours or several days, depending on the climate.

7. Paint the hardened clay and use after the paint has dried.

8. Store any leftover clay in a container or a freezer bag.
