Polish Tarnished Aluminum

Polishing tarnished aluminum may seem like a chore. Your aluminum siding on the boat may have been corroded from the salt water. Your car could have damage from excess rain or other weather conditions. Aluminum can tarnish and become dull in only a few days without the proper care. In a few simple steps, you will learn polish tarnished aluminum to a brand new shine.


Instructions


1. Obtain the Duragloss Marine & RV Aluminum Cleaner #551 from AutoGeek.net. This spray does not damage the aluminum but quickly removes tarnish from the metal. You can use other tarnish removers if you choose. Be sure to read the directions on other brands.


2. Spray a generous amount of Duragloss Marine & RV Aluminum Cleaner #551on the tarnished aluminum. Remember to spray evenly so you can remove all of the tarnish in one coating. Let the liquid sit for about five minutes.


3. Use a hose to rinse off the cleaner. Spray the aluminum until all of the liquid and tarnish is gone.


4. Repeat steps 2 and 3, if some tarnish is still on the aluminum.


5. Dry off the aluminum before adding a coat of polish. Wipe off excess water from the aluminum with one of your soft cloth towels.


6. Obtain Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish. Various auto parts and home improvement stores carry this product. Ace Hardware supplies this type of aluminum polish. Any aluminum polish can work well if you have a preference. Read the instructions found on the back of your brand of polish before using it.


7. Use your second soft cloth towel and dip it into the Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish. You will want to polish the aluminum in sections to give an even shine. Use a circular motion to massage the polish into the aluminum. Repeat this step until the task is completed.


8. Take the dry part of the towel and rub the aluminum one last time. This will remove any excess polish and smooth the remaining polish into the aluminum.
