Draw Pretty Peace Signs

The peace sign is one of the most well known iconic images that emerged from the 1960s counter culture. The sign itself is a basic image that consists of nothing more than a circle and three lines. However, the peace sign has been drawn, painted and represented in numerous creative and artistic ways. Making the peace sign pretty or attractive depends upon your own artistic ideas and tastes. Start with the basics and go from there.

Instructions

The Basics

1. Draw a circle on a piece of paper. An easy trick to draw a perfect circle is to simply place the bottom of cup or glass on the paper. Trace around the bottom of the cup.

2. Draw a vertical line from the top to the bottom of the circle. Use a ruler for a straight edge.

3. Draw an upside down "V." Draw one line on the left side of the vertical line and the second line on the right side. Start the two lines in the center of the vertical line and draw a downward line at a 45-degree angle.

Artistic Ideas

4. Draw a circle on the piece of paper. Draw an inner circle. Do the same thing with the vertical line and the two slanted lines. This provides spaces on the peace sign that can be colored in or painted.

5. Fill in the space between the two circles with the colors of your choice. The colors can be applied with markers, watercolor or oil paint. Do the same thing with the spaces between the lines.

6. Fill in the background with contrasting colors. Placing a brightly colored peace sign against a dark background makes the sign stand out.

7. Add more details and images around the sign. Draw and paint other images that complement the peace sign, such as flowers, musical instruments or a lion and a lamb lying down together.
