Have Your Art Printed Without An Upfront Cost

Printing your art can be expensive depending on the quality of the materials and who prints it.

Printing your art without an upfront cost can be challenging. In the past, if you wanted to create T-shirts, postcards or other types of prints, you needed to place a large order with a printer or manufacturer, which resulted in a large upfront cost in the hundreds or thousands of dollars. Fortunately now you can have your art printed for a small cost in very low quantities from several on-line retailers. Truly printing with zero upfront cost would require you to request free samples from a manufacturer. However, you should be prepared to pay at least a minimal cost upon receiving samples and placing an actual order.

Instructions

1. Format your art images to be uploaded to the Internet. This requires you scan an image of your art into an image editor software such as Photoshop or Paint and save the art in a digital format, such as a JPEG.

2. Create an account on a Web site that prints art. Some Web sites that allow you to place your art for sale without an upfront printing cost are ArtistRising, CafePress and Zazzle. These print-on-demand Web sites allow you set up a virtual "store" where your art can be printed once it is sold, so you do not need to pay upfront for printing costs. The cost is paid when you, or a customer, decides to order artwork.

3. Upload your art to a Web site that allows you to print and sell your art.

4. Set the print settings and options for each Web site art account you have created. For example, on ArtistRising, you may set the maximum size your art can be printed and on what type of paper in the Art Image options for the account.

5. Order prints of your art as needed.
