Crazy Drawing Ideas

Use your imagination to come up with crazy ideas to draw.

You can have fun coming up with crazy drawing ideas. You may want to come up with something weird to illustrate your garage band's latest CD or to create an unusual drawing to frame and hang on the wall of your living room to mystify your guests. Crazy drawing ideas can be funny, scary or perplexing. They show a glimpse of the chaotic ideas that people can summon up when they daydream and practice exercising their imagination.

Combine Unrelated Things

When you combine items that are seemingly unrelated, you have the makings of a crazy drawing idea. For example, instead of drawing a conventional picture of a woman sitting on a chair, you could put crocodile jaws where her legs would normally be. For a drawing of a birthday party, you could show a child blowing on a cake that has daisies sprouting from its surface where the candles would usually go.

Distortion

When you make drastic changes in an object's size, proportion or design, the distorted image will make your drawing look crazy. For example, you could show a major metropolitan city such as Houston stuck on the wing of a resting butterfly that is about to be caught in a butterfly net wielded by a scientist who has extremely tiny hands and a torso shaped like a flat-screen TV.

Weird Colors and Textures

One method of coming up with crazy drawing ideas is to use weird color schemes or textures on otherwise normal-looking objects. For example, you could paint everyone to have purple or green skin. Portray a poodle as having shiny metallic skin with bolts and rivets instead of fluffy hair. Show a woman drinking from a cup of coffee whose exterior is studded with numerous thumbtacks.

Fantastic Situations

Draw a picture of a situation that seems to come from your dreams to give the image a crazy atmosphere. For example, you might be interested in depicting a bank manager sitting at a desk, processing some paperwork. Change key aspects of the situation--draw the desk so flames are coming out of it while the banker remains calm and seemingly not in danger. Show every player on a baseball field holding an enormous bat, from outfielders to the pitcher, except for the batter, who holds a basketball or a large canned ham.
