Make A Grim Reaper Robe

The robe is the most important part of the Grim Reaper costume.

Sometimes it is necessary to come up with a good Halloween costume quickly using the supplies you already have. Although there are many outlets that sell Grim Reaper robes, making your own is quick and inexpensive. The homemade cloak can be complemented with black and white face paint and a scythe. The Grim Reaper robe is also a good costume choice if you are enjoying Halloween in a cold climate, as the robe keeps you warm and you can wear any clothes you want underneath it.

Instructions

1. Dye a bed sheet black. Place the sheet in a stainless steel bowl with sufficient commercial dye to produce a homogeneous color. Allow it to dry.

2. Fold the bed sheet in half lengthwise. Keep a finger in the middle of the fold and lift it up, adjusting it so the two sides are perfectly even.

3. Place the folded sheet over your head, making sure the fold itself runs from the front of your head to the back. Keep the sheet in that position on your head and unfold it, bringing it over your shoulders. Clasp the sheet together under your chin with a safety pin. This forms the hood.

4. Bunch several inches of bed sheet on top of each shoulder and pull it forward, creating a shelf. Secure the shelf on each shoulder with safety pins, but ensure the head of the pin is not visible from the front. This gives your arms more room to move.

5. Put a belt on the outside of the robe or tie a piece of rope around your waist. This not only makes it look more authentic, but makes it easier to move your arms.
