"Dragon Ball V" is the name given to a fanfic series. These stories are not part of established "Dragon Ball" canon and are not endorsed or condoned by the official writers of "Dragon Ball," a Japanese manga series that's in print and video media.
Stories
The most highly read works in the V universe are by Dave Thomas, which mostly revolve around a character named Verto. Another popular story in the "Dragon Ball V" series is about Goku when he is in high school.
A New Universe
Captain Sora's works, unlike most "Dragon Ball V" stories, take place in a completely different universe/time line and star none of the characters in "Dragon Ball." The stories revolve around a boy named Sora and his adventures in the world. Captain Sora's works are considered to be part of the "Dragon Ball V" universe because Sora looks and acts like Goku and goes through similar adventures.
The Game
"Dragon Ball V" is also the name of an online game. It takes place 200 years after the Majin Buu Saga from the official "Dragon Ball Z" but does not include the story line of "Dragon Ball GT," the last installment of the official series. In the game you can play as any of three races--namekian, human or majin--and the game's story is about your adventures in the world.
