Landscape is an area of a land that of four elements: physical, living, human and transitory. Landscape art can either be taken by a camera or drawn, and typically include mountains, trees, rivers and valleys. To draw a landscape with color pencils, you need to first consider the elements to be included in the work. The drawing should have uniformity to give it a complete look. The kind of color pencils used enhances the strokes. Dark and light colors, number of objects, its scale and emphasis on certain parts will give the picture its finishing look.

Drawing the Landscape
1. Choose your color pencils. They can be Wax, oil or water soluble color pencils.
2. Choose the type of surface you want to draw on. Paper can either be rough or smooth.
3. Choose what you want to include in your drawing. Examples include background, center piece, complimenting objects and the scale of these objects.
4. Use a sharpened graphite pencil for simple sketching of the landscape. Make sure that the sketch is not very dark and use the pencil lightly. Usually the center piece is bigger in size and the complementing objects are smaller in scale. Make sure to draw the items in such a way that the whole picture gives a balanced look.
5. Color the picture starting from the background. Use different pencil strokes to fill the landscape strikingly.
6. Color and shade the center piece of the landscape and highlight it by using different colors and shading techniques. Blend in the colors well by using the colorless blender to give the landscape a uniform feel. Use different arrangement of colors to shade the complimentary objects in the drawing.
