Dabble with oil paints on canvas to create a true masterpiece of your puppy. Acrylic paint might be a viable alternative if you don't like smelly paintbrush cleaners, and if you prefer the convenience of not having to wait several weeks for your painting to dry.

3. Display your charcoal puppy drawing on the wall to admire and to encourage your growing artistic abilities.

Oil Pastel Drawing of your Puppy

4. Use what you learned from creating the charcoal sketch of your puppy when creating an oil pastel illustration. Lightly sketch your puppy with graphite pencil this time. This will make the contour lines easier to cover with oil pastels.

5. Trace over the major lines of your drawing with dark-colored oil pastels.

6. Fill in the lines with lighter colors of oil pastels and use darker shades to create the shadows and the rich hues of the puppy's fur. Use tissue paper to blend the oil pastels together, which will give the illustration a striking effect.

7. Consider taking a paintbrush and a bit of baby oil to go over the puppy illustration when finished, which will make it look more like an oil painting.

8. Frame the oil pastel drawing of the puppy to display.
