Tutorials For Drawing Anime Characters

People of all ages can use drawing tutorials.


Choosing an online tutorial can teach you to draw popular anime characters at your own pace. Anime characters are Japanese animation from shows like Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, Dragonball Z, Naruto and Sailor Moon. Choose where you get your tutorials based on your ideal learning situation. Some tutorials are step-by-step, with detailed instructions, while others are just pictures showing the artist what basic lines make up the whole picture. Also, some are videos that move on, even when you are not done with a step.

Cartoon Critters is dedicated to teaching people to draw in simple steps. The tutorials are very brief pictures showing the drawer turn the most basic lines into generic and copyrighted cartoon characters. At Drawing Now, users and resident artists can upload tutorial videos and instructions. The artists of Drawing Now claim the tutorials are easy to follow and teach people to draw, sketch and color their work. As of March 2011, there were five pages of anime character drawing lessons with video tutorials that only move forward when the user clicks "forward." Popular anime character tutorials on Drawing Now include Shippo, Naruto, InuYasha, Gaara, Kakashi, Meiling, Shampoo, Yu-Gi-Oh, Miroku, Temari, Nine-Tailed Fox and Vegeta.


Manga University


Manga University is located near Tokyo, Japan, and the company website offers users lessons on drawing, learning Japanese, cooking and cosplay. The artist, Julie Dillion, picked some popular characters to do tutorials on, but warns users that she does not plan to add any additional lessons. Her tutorials are highly detailed pictures with step-by-step instructions on recreate the image. Characters on this page include Dragon Ball Z, Key: the Metal Idol, Ramma 1/2 and Ronin Warriors.
