Photo Emulsion And Screen Printing Instructions

To jazz up clothing or fabrics, use screen-printing techniques in combination with photo emulsion to alter and customize your personal things. Screen printing enables the replication of an image repeatedly with ease, making it an ideal method for creating clothes that display company or team logos. Whether intending to distribute your creations on a professional or personal basis, attain high-quality results through the screen-printing process with photo emulsion. The necessary equipment requires a significant financial investment, but screen printing isn't overly complicated. Since T-shirts are commonly screen printed, we will use one in this example.

Instructions

1. Scan the image you intend to screen print onto your computer. Save the file and load your ink jet printer with the photo transparency paper. Set your screen resolution to its highest setting. Set the printer to "transparency" or "transfer" and print the image.

2. Move into your dark room. Cover both sides of the silk screen with the emulsion fluid using the scooper. Position the screen inside of the frame and hold them together tightly. Set the screen and frame aside to allow the emulsion fluid to dry for 35 minutes.

3. Set your image on top of the screen and lay the glass panel on top of the image, covering it completely. Lay the glass-covered screen directly underneath the halogen light for 12 minutes.

4. Open your plastic spray bottle and fill it with water from the sink. Spray the screen down on both sides with the water and set it in front of a fan. Turn the fan to its highest setting and leave for 20 minutes.

5. Lay the screen on the press with a slight gap left between them. Slide the shirt down between the open space between the press and the screen and cover the top of the shirt with the screen. Squeeze drops of paint along the top section of the screen. Hold your squeegee at a 45-degree angle and pull the squeegee straight down the shirt.

6. Pull the screen up and remove the shirt from the press. Set the image by putting the shirt in front of a heater for thirty seconds.
