Write An Address In Spanish

"Snail mail" is still a great way to keep in touch with friends and family in other countries.

If you have ever traveled out of the country, you probably noticed a multitude of differences between the place you were visiting and what you are used to. Different cultures have their own rules about driving, etiquette, food and more. While some differences are immediately apparent, there are other, more subtle differences you may not even think about until you are face to face with them. One such thing is the format in which mailing addresses are written. While the new layout and foreign abbreviations may appear confusing, there are a set of rules to follow to make sure your letter reaches its intended recipient.

Instructions

1. Begin by writing the recipient's name in the first line of the address, including their title: Sr. (señor, Mr.), Sra. (señora, Mrs.) or Srta. (señorita, Miss).

2. Write the street address on the following line. Begin with the correct abbreviation for the type of road they live on, and then write the name of the road. Place a comma after the street name and then write their house number. If applicable, place another comma after the house number and indicate the floor or door.

3. Begin the third line of the address by writing the postal code -- a set of numbers and/or letters similar to our ZIP codes. Write the city name after this. Do not include a comma.

4. Write the addressee's country on the fourth line, as is standard for all international mail.
