Draw A Candy Man

Use your favorite candies as inspiration.

Drawing can be one of the best ways to express yourself and your ideas. There is no right or wrong way with drawing as long as you are in love with what you create. Drawing a candy man is a fun beginning for stretching your creative muscles and putting together different shapes.

Instructions

1. Draw a vertical line with a pencil where you want your candy man to stand and divide that line with seven equal horizontal lines, creating six segments. These lines are to keep your candy man proportional. Make sure your pencil has a reliable eraser or have one handy.

2. Draw an oval between the first two horizontal lines. Make two small circles on either side of the oval and add triangles with the point meeting the small circles. This will make a candy wrapper for the head.

3. Draw two vertical lines on either side of the central line. Start from the base of the head and end on the end of the fourth segment line. This is the body of your candy man; it should look like a lollipop stick.

4. Draw two upside-down candy canes from the base of the lollipop stick to the seventh horizontal line. Angle them out slightly so it looks like your candy man is standing on the hooks of the candy canes and make sure the hooks are pointing outwards. Add stripes on the candy canes.

5. Draw two half circles on either side of the lollipop stick in the middle of the second segment. Close the semi circles with a flat line, and make a small curved line at the tops of the semi circles. Make sure these lines curve in the opposite direction. These are gumdrops and will act as the shoulders.

6. Draw another upside-down candy cane with the curve of the canes pointing inward, from the edge of the gumdrops to the base of the lollipop stick.

7. Add a simple face to the candy wrapper head, as well as smaller gum drops along the lollipop sticks to make buttons. If you have other favorite candies, use them to personalize your candy man. Once you have added all of the candies or embellishments that you want to your candy man, take your pen and outline all of the features. Do not outline the seven horizontal lines, or the central line.

8. Erase all the pencil marks left after you've outlined with the pen. Add color to the candy man with markers, crayons or colored pencils.
