Instructions For A Fairy Princess Face Painting

Fairy princess face painting focuses on the eyes and the forehead.

Face painting has a rich history, serving many different cultures and purposes. Modern day face painting is usually associated with children's parties, carnivals and other festive celebrations. A recent trend in children's face painting has been the fairy princess style, which usually includes a swirly design around the eyes and forehead. Fairy princess style face painting is not difficult to create, as it usually only involves dots, swirls and flowers. Fairy princess face painting can therefore be as elaborate as the face painter desires.

Instructions

1. Choose a color palette that best fits the situation or that the child whose face is being painted requests. Fairy P\princess face painting is usually done in pink and purple colors, but you can customize it for whatever color palette desired. Within that color palette, choose a main color (or two or three) and a lighter color for accenting.

2. Dip the paint brush in the main color paint and paint a central shape between the eyebrows. This shape can be a diamond, a triangle, a raindrop, a flower, a butterfly or any other basic image.

3. Paint the eyelids using the same main color or another main color that is not your accent color. Do this as you would apply eyeshadow, across the lid and all the way up to the eyebrow. Use your accent color to paint a thin line directly under each eyebrow that follows the natural curve of the eyebrow and ends when the eyebrow ends. This should look like eyeliner, but on the very top of the eye rather than right at the base of the lid.

4. Paint swirls in a fan formation across the forehead using either a main color or your accent color. Decorate the fanned swirls with small dots and small raindrop shapes. Do this in a color that contrasts with whatever color used to make the swirls.

5. Paint several smaller versions of your central shape from Step 2 on the sides of each eye. Three or four next to each eye should be the desired amount. Fan the shapes out in the same way that crow's feet wrinkles would fan out from the eye.

6. Decorate the design as you wish using glitter and stick-on jewels. Be creative, or ask the child what they think needs to be added. This is an optional step, as fairy face painting can appear ornate and beautiful without the addition of added decorations.
