Write A Newspaper Pricing Retraction

Printing retractions can reduce legal risks and increase your newspaper's credibility.

A retraction usually takes the form of a short printed statement, explaining an error that has been made in the text of a publication and clarifying the correct information. A retraction may be necessary when you realize that incorrect information has been printed, or when a reader submits a retraction request. Printing retractions can reduce legal risks and increase your publication's credibility. While some retractions can address serious issues of libel or defamation, a retraction involving pricing is usually a minor issue, and can be handled in a few short sentences.

Instructions

1. Keep your retraction brief. Newspapers usually have very limited space to work with. In most cases, two to three lines is sufficient.

2. State clearly when and where the incorrect pricing information was printed, including the date of the edition and the page number.

3. State the correct pricing information.

4. Offer an apology for any confusion or inconvenience the mistake may have caused.
