Reference material never hurts.
Building snowmen has been part of the winter celebration since its recorded invention in the later 1300s. Kids especially love the bonding time that crafting a snowman can create, but not every day of winter brings snow. When it becomes too cold outside without the snow, what better way to spend your time than to make crafts inspired by the season? Drawing snowmen can ignite a large amount of fun for both you and your kids and can give you something to remember your child's age when he gets older.
Instructions
1. Draw a large circle with enough space to include a pair of eyes, nose and a mouth. The size of the circle depends entirely on your desires, so make it as big as you'd like.
2. Some people use crescents as the reflections in the eyes.
Draw two smaller circles for the eyes and place them where you see fit. Any image or replica of a snowman can help you figure out the correct proportions. Make a little curved triangle on one side of both eyes to add a little reflection, then color the eyes a darker shade to add contrast. If you'd like to make the snowman more feminine, add some eyelashes.
3. Add the nose. You can draw a traditional carrot or whatever spontaneous item you envision being the nose (kids can have fun with this part). You can make it slightly curved and bumpy with a pointed end, or just a simple triangle. Color it in.
4. Draw a faint line as a guide the mouth. Draw however many circles you'd like for the mouth on this line and color them in. You can make them as dense or sparse as you would like. Erase the little lines left between each circle drawn on the mouth.
5. Draw a thick, crooked line through a little bit of the top of the snowman's head. Draw a vertical rectangle perpendicular to this line to resemble a hat. You can add a colored stripe in the middle of it if you'd like. If you color in the hat black, you don't have to worry about erasing the head line underneath the hat. If you would like the hat any other color, use the eraser to get rid of the head line draw in your hat, then proceed to color.
