Having prints made can be a tedious yet rewarding process.
Modern technology makes selling your art much easier. Instead of replicating your original pieces of work repeatedly for distribution, you can instead ask a printing company to make some prints of the artwork. Not all printing companies are equal, so take your time when it comes time to selecting the right one. Price and quality are both factors in your choice, so research your options fully before you finalize your choice. Price your prints with the original cost to produce in mind so you can earn a profit off each one you sell.
Instructions
1. Take your artwork to a professional photographer. Have the photographer take a high-quality photo of the artwork. When selling your artwork, you want the copies to be professional looking and as close to the original as possible, so always seek a professional to help make a photo copy.
2. Find art copying businesses in your local area, either online or through the phone book. Contact the businesses to determine what services they offer to determine what materials the company can use for your prints. For example, some business might offer print reproductions of canvas while others do not.
3. Record price quotes from each business you contact. When you want to resell your prints, you want to get the best manufacturing price so you can resell your prints for a reasonable sum while you still make a healthy profit.
4. Visit all the local print locations so you can see their sample work. The quality of the prints should be the deciding factor when you choose a printing company. If you choose a printing company based on price and not quality, then you may have difficultly selling the prints if they are not the highest quality.
5. Choose the size of prints you want based on the options provided by printing company. Order the prints in the amount you desire to sell.
6. Record the overall cost of the prints, the professional photograph and art supplies used to make the original artwork. Take the total and divide it over the number of prints you ordered. This is the average amount of money spent on each print.
7. Add 20 percent of the original price to each print. This gives you a 20 percent profit on each of the prints you sell.
