Sing Like Vanessa Hudgens REALLY
Vanessa Hudgens has a pretty successful singing career to go along with her acting resume. I'm sure a lot of you would like to know emulate that success. Well, as an LA resident of the past few years, and an aspiring artist myself, I have seen many of the singers you love in the studio, and they can't really sing. Vanessa is actually good, so I'll give you the from her perspective. Read on!
Instructions
1. PRACTICE HOLDING A NOTE. The secret to good singing isn't riffing all over the place with no control. You'll notice in many pop songs, the melody is quite simple. What makes Vanessa Hudgens really listenable is first her ability to hold a note. So practice like this -- just start with middle C on the piano, play it, hold it, and practice singing that note and holding it. Then go up an octave and down one. Hold each note for 30 seconds. When you match it perfectly, you and the piano will sound like one sound. It will freak you out at frist, but perfect pitch does weird scientific things to your brain. :) So go until you get that effect.
2. PRACTICE THE RIGHT MOOD. The right mood can make or break a song. The reason that good actors like Vanessa Hudgens sometimes make good singers is that they can get into the feeling of a song lyric and really pull that feeling out of themselves. So here's your next drill -- after you get perfect pitch, now when you play that C, I want you to sing a "happy C" and then a "sad C." Let someone listen to see if they can tell the difference in how you're singing the note. When they get the same feeling that you're going for, you're one step closer to singin like Vanessa Hudgens.
3. LEARN TO MOVE AND SING. In High School Musical, and on stage, Vanessa Hudgens has to move and sing at the same time. The idea is still the same though; you must hold the right notes as you move, which is much harder than it sounds. Bouncing up and down and dancing around, your voice will want to change. Don't let it. Your final drill is now to play the piano note, and practice holding perfect pitch while you move. Jump up, do a dance; it doesn't matter. Just move and hold your tone. When you accomplish all 3 of these vocal techniques, you will be singing just like Vanessa Hudgens!
