Do you want to have your favorite picture printed on canvas, but don't want to pay hundreds of dollars for a canvas print? You can easily make your own canvas prints from digital images on your computer for a fraction of the cost of having a photographers studio or other company make canvas prints for you. Whether you are wanting a canvas print of your favorite photo or want to make reproductions of your artwork, the process is pretty simple.
Instructions
1. Select the photo or picture that you wish to make a canvas print with. If it is not a digital file on your computer, then you will need to scan the image with a quality scanner to make a good quality digital print. You could always take the photo to your local photo developer. They can scan the image and make you a CD with the digital file.
2. Head to your local office supply store, or the office supply section of stores like Micheals, Target, Walmart, etc. Pick up a pack of printer canvas sheets. You can find these in the same section where you buy photo paper for your printer.
3. Once home, insert a canvas sheet into your printer where you would normally place your printer paper.
4. Open your digital image file on your computer. I open my photos with Windows Photo and Fax Viewer. Select the print icon in the toolbar below the image.
This should bring up the Photo Printing Wizard box.
5. Click next, then it should show you a list of images/thumbnails where you can select other pictures you wish to print. The image you want to print should be first and already selected with a check mark so click next.
6. The next page should bring up your printing options. Select the best quality for the printer. Once your printing options are set to your needs, click next.
7. The next page allows you to select the size of the print. Select the size you wish to print from wallets to 8x10 or full page. Double check your printer to make sure the canvas sheet is lined up properly and ready to feed into the printer. Click next to being making your canvas print.
8. Allow the ink on your canvas print to dry completely before handling.
9. If you need to make a print larger than the capacity of your printer, simply upload your picture to a site like Shutterfly and have it printed on gallery wrapped canvas which can be hung directly on the wall with no framing for a more artistic look. This option is a bit more pricey but a good option if you want a bigger canvas print than your printer can give you. If you don't need the print right away, sign up for a shutterfly account and receive weekly email specials. Wait until they have a discount on canvas prints to place your order.
