Find Autograph Signing Events For Sports

Certain sporting events, such as professional golf tournaments, give fans access to athletes for autographs.

Collecting autographs from athletes provides fans a way to have a physical reminder of their encounter with their favorite sports stars. Athletes sign everything from sports cards and programs to baseball gloves and footballs. Depending on the availability of the athlete's autograph on the open market and the type of item that is signed, these signatures can be worth a significant amount of money. Locating autograph signing events in your area requires consulting local merchants, teams and publications.

Instructions

1. Look for information posted in local publications, such as newspapers. Many public sports-related autograph events will be listed in a calendar of events or "Weekend Happenings" section.

2. Contact the fan information office for local sports teams in your area. They usually have a list of autograph events involving their players or events occurring at their venue, such as an old-timer's day.

3. Subscribe to autograph-collecting publications, such as "Autograph Magazine", "Beckett Sports Card Monthly" and "Sports Collectors Digest," which have a listing of local, regional and national autograph-signing events.

4. Contact local sporting-good stores, bookstores and sports memorabilia stores. These merchants often sponsor their own signing events on a weekly or monthly basis.

5. Look for charity events in your area. Some athletes donate their time to autograph sessions for a cause.
