Norman Rockwell used friends, family and neighbors as models for his wonderful paintings. If you don't have a ready resource of willing models you may want to turn to the internet. There are many stock photographers out there who will provide exactly the pose you need at little or no cost

1. When I was in art school, back in the last century, we had the choice of using real life models (expensive) or buy books of stock model photos when we need that certain pose. Today there are many websites that feature stock photos for a price. But there are also some that are free. You can find just about anything, from classic poses to studies on hands and feet.
2. sxc.hu, deviantart.com and stockvault.net are just a few of the websites offering free stock photography downloads. Some require a membership which is free.
If you are an artist trying to get just that right pose or turn of the head or hand these can be invaluable tools and resources.
3. Even free stock photography has a "price". That price is to follow the user's agreement set forth by the website or individual artist. Often this is nothing more than credit and a link back to the photographer. A fair trade indeed.
