Use a Garden Shade Screen
Use a garden shade screen to keep the hot sun from damaging tender crops in the garden. Although plants love the sun, sometimes the heat from the sun's rays wilts the plants so quickly they die. Through the use of a garden shade screen, the plants have relief from the harsh rays and enjoy a reprieve. The density of the shade screen determines how much shade is actually achieved.
Instructions
1. Drive the garden stakes into the ground at the edges of the garden that needs protection. Leave at least 6 inches of the stake exposed above ground. Keep the stakes 6 feet apart.
2. Connect three pieces of the PVC pipe together by applying the PVC glue to the connectors and the pipe, so the joined pipe forms a "U" shape. Do the same with the other three pieces of pipe.
3. Slide the PVC pipe ends over the stakes and push the ends of the pipe into the ground at least 3 inches. Do this same procedure to the other end of the garden bed with the second "U" shaped pipe.
4. Slide the garden shade screen over the outer end of the PVC arch and run it to the other PVC arch. Extend the garden screen over the second arch to the ground.
5. Stake the shade screen at one end of the garden into place with the garden staples. Pull the screen taut, but do not stretch it, from the other side of the garden bed. Hold into place with more garden staples.
