Fired clay pots
Pottery kilns may be constructed from large enough items made from brick or metal. The items need to be able to handle high temperature for an extended time period. Earthenware projects require a temperature of no more than 1400 degrees Centigrade. Most homemade kilns have the ability to reach that.

Procedure
1. Cast Iron Wood Stove
Place wood stove in an open and safe area. Plug all holes in the stove except the door and chimney opening. Cut the 1/8" sheet metal to match the shape of the stove.
2. Stagger Bricks
Build a wall around the edge of the stove 12 inches high. Stagger the bricks. Do not mortar.
3. Place one brick across the center of the chimney opening. Place clay objects to be fired in the brick chamber. Cover the brick wall with the cut sheet metal. Stagger bricks over the entire cover.
4. Red Hot coals
Fire slowly. Use a small fire for the first two hours, then gradually increase the heat. A hot fire will cause the chamber to glow red. This type of heat is needed for six to eight hours. Once the time period has elapsed let the fire die down naturally. When cool remove the pottery.
