The valve cover is the white and red rectangle in the front.
The B16 valve cover is an integral part in the engine of many cars as well as one of the most noticeable car parts under the hood. Car owners often emphasize the valve cover with a custom paint job, adding personality and flare to their vehicle. Properly painting the B16 valve cover will not only make your engine look better, but will also help to ensure that your car is running well for years to come.
Instructions
1. Remove all of the rubber parts and set them aside. This includes parts like O-rings, gaskets, and mounting bolt plastic washers.
2. Spray the valve cover with paint stripper, with emphasis on the crevasse between the cylinder head and the timing belt cover.
3. Wipe off the paint using paper towels once the stripper has taken effect. Be careful not to touch any of it as the paint stripper will burn your hands.
4. Rinse off the valve cover and allow it to dry.
5. Brush off any remaining paint with the steel brush. It will immediately flake off.
6. Sand the valve cover. Begin with the coarser sand paper, moving progressively to a lighter grain to achieve a smooth finish.
7. Tape off any areas you do not wish to paint with the masking tape.
8. Apply the epoxy primer to the areas you wish to paint.
9. Apply the high temperature paint once the primer has reached a tacky consistency.
