Digital art can take many forms, and learning each specific type of digital art depends on the type of art it is. Digital art can include digital photography, images done in Photoshop or Illustrator, or digital animation.
Instructions
1. Develop your knowledge of two-dimensional design. Although most art can be learned just through observation and practice, the fundamentals of design may be best taught in a class with a teacher who can provide feedback. Design fundamentals, if they do not come instinctively, are best discussed with someone knowledgeable.
2. Purchase the digital software required for the type of art that you wish to produce. Photoshop is the industry standard for most forms of digital art, and digital art professionals are required to know Photoshop intimately.
Once you have purchased the necessary software, you will need to spend time learning the software. This takes hours, days, months and even years of practice. This software will need to be updated as new versions are released.
In order to use the new software, you may wish to enroll in a few graphic art classes.
3. Learn to draw. Take drawing classes and practice a lot. Study proportion and form.
4. Apprentice yourself to someone who is already skilled as a digital artist. You may apply for a position as an intern at a graphic design office, or try to connect yourself to an artist through your drawing or design fundamentals classes.
