A baby cow's cuteness makes it a more interesting subject for drawing than a grown cow.
A baby cow is adorable compared to an adult cow and much more interesting to draw. Learning to draw is easy when basic steps are followed. Creating an action line and adding shapes helps to get the drawing going. Having an image to refer to will help when adding the details. Most artists will research their images for a variety of choices before deciding on one or even two. It is not uncommon to take the best features from a couple of images, such as the background from one and the baby cow's position from another.
Instructions
1. Place a picture of a baby cow where it can be easily viewed.
2. Create an action line to represent what the cow is doing, such as horizontal for standing. Draw four lines to the action line to represent the baby cow's legs.
3. Sketch in shapes to represent body parts, such as an oval for the head, a larger oval for the body and rectangles or cylinders for the legs.
4. Create body form by connecting the basic shapes, such as leg to the body.
5. Add details such as eyes, ears and a tail.
6. Erase the basic shape lines.
7. Add shading to areas cast in shadows. Shading is created by adding light lines with a pencil and then blending in or smudging with a fingertip.
