Make Stick Figures

Stick figures are commonly drawn by children.

Create a stick figured in less than five minutes. Stick figure art isn't limited to children. Use the stick figures to decorate posters, create scenes or make short flipbooks. Stick figures can look as simple or as decorative as you want. For example, you can add hair, skirts, jewelry or ties to the stick figures to make them more identifiable. Often a simple decoration like a skirt or bowtie can show if the stick figure is a boy or girl.

Instructions

1. Place the point of the pencil in the upper third of the paper. Make sure you have plenty of room above the point to use later. Draw a line straight down from the point. Make the line as long as you want, but stop about three or four inches from the bottom of the paper. This is the stick figure's body.

2. Place the pencil point at the top of the line. Draw a circle at the top of the line. The circle doesn't have to look perfectly round. Draw simple facial features in the circle such as eyes, a nose and a mouth.

3. Draw two short horizontal lines on either side of the body line for the arms. You can draw the lines with an angle to indicate a bent elbow, if you wish.

4. Place the pencil point at the end of the body line. Draw two lines at opposing angles from the end of the body line for the legs.

5. Draw a short line angled from the end of each leg to each side of the page for the feet.
