White frosting around the edge is a classic gingerbread man look.
A simple gingerbread man drawing on construction paper doesn't have to be a boring picture. Basic craft supplies, such as beads and puffy paint, can help turn the flat image into a colorfully decorated gingerbread man. Adult or child, anyone can adorn the simple image to produce a cheerful holiday decoration.
Instructions
Gingerbread Man
1. Draw a 10-inch-tall gingerbread man on a piece of white construction paper. Trace the sketch with the brown colored pencil. Color in the gingerbread man's body lightly with the brown pencil.
2. Draw the remaining gingerbread man scene on the empty white paper. For example, color the top half of the paper blue to make it look like the gingerbread man is walking outside on a clear winter day.
3. Glue the blue bead eyes on the gingerbread man. Glue the three buttons in a vertical line down the middle of his chest.
4. Draw a large "U" shaped smile on the image with red puffy paint. Draw two lines across each wrist and each ankle with red puffy paint to help define the hands and feet.
5. Draw a wiggly line around the edge of the gingerbread man's body with white puffy paint to create the appearance of an icing trim. Add a dot of puffy paint to the face as the nose and an arch over each eye as the eyebrows. Let glue and paints dry.
Gingerbread Woman
6. Draw a 10-inch tall gingerbread man on a piece of white construction paper. Erase the upper legs and draw a vertical line angled out from each hip. Draw a horizontal line at knee-length and erase any lines outside the basic "triangle" to create a skirt silhouette on the gingerbread woman.
7. Trace the gingerbread woman silhouette with a brown colored pencil. Color the shape in lightly with the brown pencil. Draw any background scenery on the remaining plain paper.
8. Glue the beads on the gingerbread woman for eyes. Draw three small lines coming out of each bead like eyelashes with the white puffy paint. Add a dot of white paint to the image as a nose. Draw a heart-shaped mouth on the image with red puffy paint.
9. Draw a wiggly line around the edge of the gingerbread woman's body with the white puffy paint. Draw a white line across the waist and hem areas of the skirt with the paint. Draw two wiggly white lines across each wrist and ankle. Draw vertical stripes in the skirt area of the image with the red puffy paint. Let dry.
