Personalize your mix tape cover with a cartoon strip.
The mix tape has long been a symbol of true love or true friendship. Anyone who will go to the trouble of making a collection of all your favorite tunes must really like you. If you are making a mix tape or mixed CD for someone as a gift, or maybe for your own edification, make a cartoon cover. You can make a cartoon comic strip that looks great and entertains. You can even make the strip long enough so that the reader will have to unfold the cover to see what happens at the end.
Instructions
1. Open the old tape or CD cover and remove the paper sleeve. Measure its dimensions and cut a piece out of the sketch card that matches your measurements.
2. Brainstorm ideas for your cartoon until you come up with a story line that you like. Decide how many frames you need to tell the story of your cartoon strip. Divide the tape cover into two or three lines of boxes that add up to the number of frames you need. You can decide to do two or three short comic strips, each with its own line of boxes, or you can do one long one. The boxes should be the same size.
3. Draw a rough sketch. Use the pencil to make a rough sketch of your cartoon in each of the box frames. Once you are happy with the rough sketch, use a fine black marker to draw the speech bubbles and fill in the text.
4. Use the same thin black marker to outline the characters and background features. Use colored markers to fill the strip with color. Fold up the sketch cardboard and fit it into the mix tape or CD cover.
