Pick up a pencil and create your own world through art.
Drawing is an art that anyone can enjoy, because it gives you the freedom to use your imagination and create your own creatures and a unique world for them to live in. No matter your age or artistic skill, you can embark on a creative adventure when you are drawing. If you want your picture to have an element of reality or perfection, consider using reference pictures of the animals you want to draw.
Instructions
1. Select reference pictures for the animals you want to draw. The reference pictures should be clear (not pixelated) and provide detailed images of the animal.
2. Choose a place to draw that is well-lit. Lay out your reference pictures beside your drawing paper.
3. Draw lightly a rough outline of the animals you want to include in the picture, choosing where to place and position each animal. You are essentially planning the composition of the picture. If you want to move the location of the animal, erase the outline and lightly draw another outline in a different place.
4. Redraw detailed outlines of the animals. Shape the light compositional outlines by clearly drawing the head, body, legs and tail of the animal. Use darker, heavier pencil strokes. To create a clean product, erase any of the light compositional outlines.
5. Add details to the outlined animals. Use the reference pictures to add ears, eyes, hair texture, hooves and more. Keep in mind the more details you add to your animal, the more realistic it will look.
6. Draw the background for your animal's world. Use your imagination to create a detailed landscape. Include details in both the foreground and background such as foliage and landmarks like mountains and rivers. If desired, use reference pictures to create a realistic-looking world for your animals to live in.
