Beagle puppies. By Rachel Asher.
Puppies, with their soft fur, round features and playful attitudes, are excellent subjects for a drawing. There are hundreds of recognized American Kennel Club breeds and thousands of combinations of mixed breeds, meaning that there is no end of subjects for your puppy drawings. By starting with their overall shapes and carefully building in the details, you'll have a beautiful puppy drawing in no time. For an image of two beagle puppies, use the link in the Resources section below.
Instructions
1. Look at the image of the beagle puppies provided in the Resources section. Draw the rudimentary shapes that make up the body and head of the puppy on the left.
2. Observe the image of the beagle puppy on the right and draw the shapes that make up his head, snout and body. They should be circular and oval shapes.
3. Draw the shapes making up the legs and paws of the puppy on the left. Do the same for the puppy on the right.
4. Sketch out the details of the head for the beagle puppy on the left. Because this drawing is entirely in pencil, indicate the color markings on the beagle puppy's head as well.
5. Use the guiding shapes to draw the bodies of both puppies. Erase the guiding lines when you're finished.
6. Study the marking patterns in each puppy. Shade in their heads and bodies accordingly. Use very light, diagonal lines in pencil to mark where any shadows cast across the puppies' bodies. Also, draw their paw pads.
