Draw A Puppy Face

Learn to draw a puppy face.

Drawing a puppy face requires you to work with basic shapes and symmetry. You can rework shapes like the nose or ears to change the style of the puppy. After mastering the puppy face you can draw them in letters, art books, or as doodles on paper. Practicing drawing a puppy face can help you brush up on your drawing techniques.

Instructions

1. Draw a large circle in the middle of your paper. This will be the basic shape of the puppy's head.

2. Draw a vertical line in the middle of the large circle, and a horizontal line that crosses it. Draw these lines lightly as they will be used for symmetry purposes only. The circle should be split into four equal parts now.

3. Draw two large circles, one in each top section in the original circle. The should fit inside each section, but take up as much space as possible. These two circles will be the puppy's eyes.

4. Draw a small wide oval in the bottom left section that is halfway inside the circle and halfway outside of it. This will be the nose of the puppy.

5. Draw the puppy's muzzle or mouth by making a large C shape. Start the shape in the middle of the original circle where the two lines meet and shape it to the bottom left section. The C shape should go around the nose of the dog and come all the way back ending in the middle of the bottom right section.

6. Draw an ear by making a long U shape coming off the right side of the circle. Draw the bottom of the ear on the other side of the circle. Because of the way the head is facing you will only be able to see the bottom of the ear.

7. Draw a circle in each of the puppy's eyes and darken them in to make the pupils. Erase the top of the circle and shape it into more of an oval to make it look like the puppy's head.

8. Draw a half of a U starting where the puppy's mouth ended in the bottom right section. Make the U shape going to the left then connect it straight up to the puppy's muzzle. This will be the open part of the puppy's mouth. Draw a small U shape inside the mouth and lightly color it in to make a tongue.

9. Erase the symmetry lines in the middle of the circle and any other extra markings.
